It's been brought up a fair amount lately, so I figured I may as well post this.

A few things:

1) Name changes may be done once per month (as in a period of thirty days), so make sure you like what you'll be changing your name to.
2) When you do ask for a name change, make sure you add your current username to the former usernames section in your profile, that way members know who you are afterwards.
3) Try to avoid asking for names that have been used by other members for a long time (i.e., if Miyaki changes his name to Zanryu, you can't ask to have your name changed to Miyaki).
4) Keep your name choices PG-13, please

Since there doesn't seem to be any way for a member to do it on his or her own, it has to be done by someone in the staff.

Hence, why there's the request thread.

I think it should be a requirement that they put their name change in their sig, too. Like: "Formerally bonestorm99" or something. (random username, lol) Not everybody frequently looks at people's profiles, or even know where to look on a profile to find out.

But that's just my opinion.

I was wondering if we could do like they used to on FES and have people put their old names in their signature? It gets confusing remembering who's who and it's kind of a pain to have to constantly check people's profiles for their names.

There's a former identities section in the member profiles. We can just click a user's name to check who they were before.
