Well I'll give a few stabs at what I can say. To start, I can't really see a set light source in the sprite. The shades used for the eyes are blending into much together, meaning that it has this kind of difficult to see the features of the eyes. For her eyes, try to use mostly the darkest shade and the lightest shade mostly. For the hair pallets, I don't think using the ones from the FE10 sprite is going to do, you might have to make your own cause that one isn't working as well. The shades almost blend in rather than have individual contrasts. Its also a little hard to see the shades you have on the armors as well so you may have to change the contrasts on those as well. -------------------- |

It needs to be cleaned up, to begin with since it looks like (and might be) a resize of actual art to fit the GBA specs. There's a lot of jagged lines, you'll need to retrace the key lines and reshade from there, since the shading doesn't match the standard GBA shading. -------------------- "Somewhere in the multiverse, a bad slashfic is written about this moment."

LMAO. I said it was a WIP. I haven't even started on her face, (OPV) right part of her breastplate, her collar, part of her helm, or hair yet. Obviously I'm not going to use FE10 colors. I haven't even simplified the shading on the specific parts I mentioned earlier. --------------------

It feels like a resize of the original sprite with a little bit of GBA lining here and there to give it the feeling of a 16-bit piece. Of course, it's a WIP, so I'm not much sure what to say. All I can really say at this point is that 1) if it's close to completion, you completely restart and use GBA-style shading, or 2) if it's just starting out, I'd like to see lineart, flat colors, and the exact palette you used to compare. -------------------- ![]() |

(OPV) What's up with that little strand of her on her face on the right? The mouth looks half-opened and doesn't look FE style(though that just might be your style of spriting). The upper part of her face, all the way up between the two hair lines The pitchg brown looks like there should be less of it.

I'm feeling kind of an overall lack of a light source in regards to her hair, especially on the nearer side of her face (where the shadow is). Her hair feels very voluminous, and I'm not seeing much of that shading on her face, either. The red cloak section could use more definitive shading; without zoom, it looks almost like a blotch of pure red. Inversely, the body seems to have too much shading. You have all these nice armor tones, but only the two darkest are really being used on her frontside. I'd think that if the light were there, it'd be highlighting more of the right side of the sprite. There also seems to be a dent on the far side of her jaw done with 2 pixels of border color. It's really stark. The sprig on the far side of her face could use a bit of definition, too. It's kind of just invading her face randomly. -------------------- ![]() |

Well the way the light source is hitting the mask/helm dosen't match the way the light meets the pads. I'm seeing a sliver of pillow shade on the collar thing on the right (our point of view) from where it goes from light then to dark. It also looks like that the larger pads are different shades from other parts of him that are the blackish color, I don't know if thats a part of his design though. Its also a little hard to see the shading made to areas that are white also. -------------------- |

Well at this points its difficult to say. From what I see from the reference picture he dosen't have many features on his face either. I think from here on out your gonna have to mess with shading it and such and get more feedback once you have something more going. -------------------- |

I'm going to have to agree with ASM at this point. There's simply too little there to actually receive any really useful critique. I can (and will) comment on the lineart, but I can't help shade where there isn't any. Anyway, as I said in your request topic, the chest details don't really follow the ones in the image - or is that intentional? The chest lines seem a lot thicker in the ref image. Also, if you're going to use full portrait view (meaning that the person is completely facing you) for the body, I suggest using the same angle for the head, just for symmetry and angle's sake. The lines could be cleaned up a bit, and the neck is very stiff and long. That's all I can really say for now, though. WIPs are infinitely more difficult to critique because there's always so much that isn't done that I don't want to accidentally trespass on. -------------------- ![]() |
